The ancestor S-class is fast than modern sports cars

175 Estimate / Estimation €70.000 – €90.000

The Youngtimer collection from the Paris auction includes a Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 Saloon model, which is sold in a beautiful factory condition. The original model, in 1969 he was registered in Germany, and we also get the service book for the vintage Mercedes. The 300 SEL model was described as „greatest sedan in the world” - after its introduction. Powered by Mercedes-Benz’s venerable 6.3-litre engine, the 300 SEL was certainly worthy of the three-pointed star. The 6.3-litre engine born and bred on the race track, it could catapult a car that weighed nearly two tons to a top speed of over 130 mph (210 km/h) and to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) from a dead stop in under seven seconds – respectable numbers for modern automobiles and an extraordinary feat for a luxury saloon in 1969.

"A really fast luxury saloon, even among today's cars"

Adored with the finest luxury fitments of the time, this was a car for those who were looking for the very best - and the newest S-Class ancestor. Ordered in Stuttgart, this 300 SEL 6.3 Saloon retains a copy of its original data card, which lists a host of desirable options. The 300 SEL was equipped with heat-insulating glass, front safety-belts, electrically heated rear window and air conditioning (already in 1969), this Mercedes-Benz would have been an absolute luxury to drive. The data card also reveals that the 300 SEL remains in its original color of Beige, with a dark brown interior – a subtle color combination that highlights the elegance of this particular model.

... and the beautiful interior
