2017 Škoda Octavia RS245 Combi  - test - second page

Amazing performance in the factory Octavia

When we sit down behind the steering wheel in the sport RS seats, and we turn the key already we see it already the Octavia RS typical white scale maters, and the indicators are running along with the ignition. Fun starts after the start with current most powerful factory Octavia, which gives the driver a truly exceptional experience, when driving on the track the Czech sport model. Besides its exceptional, it is also suitable for everyday use, but therefore with 19-inch rims also even in the comfort mode, it is easy to feel the road, potholes (In Hungary and Slovakia there is still a lot of such poor quality, so you can get pretty good results during test runs, also in sports models), however already with 18-inch wheels it can provide perfect comfort even on poor quality roads. The 2.0 TSI engine produces 245 hp, which is also referred to by the type designation, however previous RS230 the RS230 performance has even been supplemented by 15 horsepower, so came the RS245 – an even faster Octavia RS from Škoda.

The strong heart (2.0 TSI) and high-performance brakes under the 19" wheels

The tested model will be a real rarity, because it will be among the most expensive cars with the diesel versions, but who can do it and look for the strongest, they are very well worth the money, who are looking for real sports Škoda, which provides unconscious performance, and even excellent for a family car. A tested car was fitted with DSG dual-clutch transmission, which in the Sport mode changed gear speed at an exceptional speed, and this is awaited by a sports model, but in the Normal mode it brings sophisticated, subtle shifts like an elegance sedan. The driving experience so it can be increased, if you do not want to use the transmission in automatic mode, you can speed up with the shift lever or paddle shift, which at some level enhances the driving experience.

The unique Octavia RS instrument cluster and speeds up to 280 km/hour (about 174 MPH), as well as the built-in stopwatch

The Czechs have a driving experience already they have been stepped up in the base versions with smaller refinements, which goes beyond the RS version, and only 6.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, if we take the best out of the RS245. But the Octavia RS is not on the BMW M3 (only sedan version), Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG T-model or Audi RS4 Avant level, but this is not even a high-performance power machine, but it's a great entertainment tool the family of fathers, plus perfect for everyday use and provides much more acceptable consumption, like the wild estate cars of the Germans. The 2.0 TSI (TFSI in the Audi range) petrol engine does not consume much of it in comparison to high performance with the 6.6 liters average consumption (factory value), but whoever chooses this does not disappoint (and not looking for a fuel-efficient car), since it is so good to go with it that speed limitations are difficult to keep up to, and miss the outstanding accelerations - with the knowledge that there are nearly 250 horsepower under our hands in the RS model, and with a torque of 370 Nm (from 1600 turns the peak torque is available).

In the RS245, the driving mode selector affects the suspension adjustment, in addition to the gas reaction and the transmission with settings. However the renewal, they received digital meters on the touchscreen, which shows the G-force, the boost pressure, and many other important information or you can measure the lap time with the stopwatch on the touchscreen. The digital supplementary watches already they also appeared in the SuperB Sportline, which helps the drivers a lot – which shows the oil temperature, so it's easier to decide, that the turbocharger engine is in the race track after use, the petrol engine has cooled down sufficiently. The high performance with sporty steering tuning, there is also faster speed shifting and sport suspension, which is with the RS245 19-inch wheels you are already feeling the way bugs (like the potholes), even in normal mode, but only minimal (but this is still an excuse for the car), but this is the price of good adhesion and appearance at most powerful version, which is an excellent estate for the track car to the road. The current Octavia RS generation the car has already been tested even before updating, in the 220 and 184 hp versions, and now I got the most powerful version of the updated version for testing, which already uses the 245 horsepower 2.0 TSI petrol engine from the VW.

... and the usual Octavia Combi (Estate) rear part, with RS details

The Škoda Octavia RS models in the Normal mode the Octavia RS goes beautiful quietly, when it's like a strong, smooth Octavia. But when we switch to sports mode, gives a more dynamic, more sporty performance than a hothatch, so however it can provide a real experience even on track days, where we use, the high performance of the 2.0 TSI engine. The beauty of the petrol engine, that it keeps pulling and even the red field would continue to rotate if the electronic ban would not come, and even in the D speed gear. For the new RS engine is novelty, which added the previous RS230's performance to 15 hp, however already the base Octavia RS TSI model uses the 230 hp 2.0 TSI engine, and only 25,185 pounds (OTR) for the base Octavia RS, which is not more expensive than at any hothatch in this category, plus this is a full value family car. The tested model is really melted in the environment with black color, in addition to which black elevations do not appear, so at first it is not noticeable, that this is an RS version.
